Lighting the path forward

In the year 2021, a strong wind caused a flying iron sheet to hit me, and I lost my right eye. Life was difficult. People used to stare at my one-open-one-closed-eye. Some even made fun of me. So, I chose to leave university at age 23 and began to stay at home. Then I met Tahir Zafar, President of AFNA, during his visit to Gambia in July 2022 through my uncle. Mr. Tahir promised me a fully sponsored treatment by AFNA at Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

The day I traveled from The Gambia to Pakistan, my right eye was completely closed. Now, after the surgery and with this prosthetic eye, thank God, I am better. I can now resume my university education (which I had left after losing my right eye); I can go out with my friends again, and most importantly, my days of depression are now over. I am a normal part of society again!

This treatment would have been impossible without AFNA’s sponsorship. Thank you so much!
