About Al-Shifa Foundtion of North America- AFNA

Al-Shifa Foundation of North America (AFNA) is a non-profit 501( C) (3) organization registered in the United States. Our tax Id is 36-4328912. Its purpose is mainly to provide grants to eradicate blindness and cure acute eye diseases in the third world countries (particularly Pakistan). AFNA has partnered with Al-Shifa Trust in Pakistan for providing treatment/ surgeries to the poor & needy eye patients through their six modern eye hospitals and outreach programs in the remote areas.

Through the generous support of many individuals and organizations since 2000, AFNA has managed to give generous grants to Al-Shifa Trust for supporting their highly successful projects including building of charity eye hospitals in the remote towns/cities of Sukkur, Kohat, Muzaffarabad and Chakwal, and the new children eye hospital opened in 2021 in Rawalpindi with the most modern facilities/ equipment and highly qualified/ skilled and dedicated ophthalmologists and support staff. Al-Shifa also provides rural outreach services to the needy and so far set-up over 3500 screening/surgical camps in remote areas. Al-Shifa Trust is also screening school children in various parts of the country.

Al-Shifa Trust is a non-profit and a non-political organization. It is committed to providing eye care and treatment mainly to the under privileged and poor. Almost 75% of all patients attending Al-Shifa Eye Hospitals are treated free of charge, 20% subsidized and 5% are private patients.

Al-Shifa Trust has achieved the awards of excellence and is a World Health Organization (WHO) collaborating center for East Mediterranean Region since 1994. In the field of prevention of blindness, Al-Shifa has partnerships with many international NGOs including WHO, ORBIS International-USA, Lions Club International-USA, Operation Eye-Sight Universal-Canada, Sight Savers-UK and Government of Japan.
